The home vineyard has been planted with
Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and
Gewürztraminer grapes. The first vintage
was in 2004.

Situated high on the western end of a
former sea cliff line which extends west
for two kilometres from the Kaikoura
Peninsula, the vineyard comprises of a
terrace about 30m above sea level, rising
gently to an elevation of about 60m.

Bedrock of the site is Eocene Amuri Limestone, a chalky and chert-rich marine
limestone, with weathered loess, marine sands and rare gravels also present.

The vineyard temperatures are slightly cooler than Blenheim which will prolong the
grapes ripening time. This combined with good exposure to the sun will allow the
grapes to develop sugar and acid levels slowly, ripening evenly and completely, with
harvest typically taking place later than the more northern world-renowned
Marlborough vineyards.
